They are back! After a long period of silence, the 16th edition of the Challenge d’Aviron de Mer Prince Albert II In 2021 will take place on November 27 and 28. The Principality of Monaco is pleased to welcome the world’s best coastal rowers once again!
What’s new?
According to their press release they prepared this year’s regatta with the “Change or be changed”, so let’s have a look at their changes:
- Participation is limited to 20 teams (Teams may be composed of rowers from the same club or the same country, or mixed clubs or countries.)
- Gender equality – each registration has to be a team of 5 people, made of 4 rowers: two women and two men, accompanied by a coxswain.
- The rowers will compete in the following categories: Women Solo, Men Solo, Mixed Double and Coxed Mixed Four.
- The teams will earn points that will be accumulated over the two days of the competition to reveal the final ranking at the end of the last race – Every race counts!
Renewal of the prize money
A total prize of € 15,000 will be shared among the 5 best teams.
The best team wins € 5,000, the second € 4,000, the third € 3,000, the fourth € 2,000 and the fifth: € 1,000.
Registration is already closed. The organizer informed us that an extremely high-class field of rowers will compete at the coast of Monaco. Look forward to it – we certainly do! We’ll keep you updated!
