Austria can do coastal rowing. The first Coastal Rowing Regatta in Austria took place in Bregenz on October 21, 2023. At the same time, this was the first regatta with coastal boats on Lake Constance. One thing became clear: even in a country without a coast like Austria, you can organize a successful regatta.

With a great field of participants, of over 50 teams from Austria, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands, the field started in different age groups.

Lake Constance showed its good side this weekend and was almost windless and waveless. Of course the organizers would have liked the weather to be a little rougher.

Coastal Coach Wolfgang Sigl at the briefing

Austria can do coastal rowing

The organizing team around Manfred Carotta, Coastal Association Coach, Wolfgang Sigl and many other important helpers impressively demonstrated how well a costal regatta can be organized

Doubles only

Rowing took place in Co2x double according to World Rowing regulations. Boats from boat sponsor Rowing in Europe www. Coastal-boats.eu were supplied by premium shipyards: Rubenetti, Kanghuas and Rowing Sport.

With a Doubles Only format, the organizers proposed an interesting and competitive regatta format. On the one hand, the logistics and handling were reduced, and on the other hand, a format was created to attract a maximum of entries to the race. Very pleasant: your own Masters ranking. Here are the results

Austria and Coastal Rowing Culture: Austria has managed to establish a successful coastal culture within the association. With dedicated trainers and an association that supports the sport. This is shown by the success of the athletes during the European and World Champs.
