Italy is active. Italy to host Coupe de la jeunesse 2023. It was good news for Italian rowing: the Tuscan beach of Donoratico, in Marina di Castagneto Carducci – already the venue of the European Rowing Coastal Challenge in 2020 and 2021 – will host the first edition of the Coupe de la Jeunesse Beach Sprint. The decision was announced in 2022 in Castrelo de Miño, Spain, during the Coupe de la Jeunesse Ordinary General Assembly. The event is scheduled to take place in Marina di Castagneto from September 22 to 24, 2023
Italy trained: The “Beach Sprint Show” was launched a few days ago. Organized by the Rowing Coastal Challenge Association of Marina di Castagneto (Livorno) in collaboration with Canottieri Firenze and under the auspices of the Italian Rowing Federation. The city of Florence, the Tuscany region and the municipality of Castagneto Carducci are also involved.
The event was held for the first time on April 8 in Florence and is the prelude to the 1st edition of the Coupe Beach Sprint. The protagonists of the April competition were 8 athletes (4 boys and 4 girls) of international standing, representing 4 countries: Spain, with the multiple world champion
in mixed doubles, Ander Martin, from Torrevieja (Alicante); Germany, with Levke Schacht, from Flensburg (Hamburg), bronze medalist in the last European Championships; Monaco, represented by the Olympic champion in singles, Quentin Antognelli; and Italy, with Alessandra and Michelangelo Quaranta, world champions in junior beach sprint, as well as Federico Garibaldi, Alice Ramella and Viola Patrignani (More see website www.canottaggio.it)
