Olympic silver medalist in single sculls in Paris, in the semifinals. “Unbelievable, I’m super happy, and this format is a lot of fun,” Lobnig said, celebrating her second world championship gold in coastal rowing. See report in rudern.at
“In the final, I could still feel the tough semifinal against Emma Twigg, but I didn’t want to settle for silver,” Lobnig laughed. “I really wanted this gold medal, and everything worked out; the entire team did a great job. I’m so proud—if someone had told me this back in April after my herniated disc, I wouldn’t have believed it.” The fast-paced format, with races lasting around three minutes, suits the Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist: “It’s an exciting and cool format that plays to my strengths. You need to be quick here, and of course, I wanted to make a good impression—and I think I succeeded,” Lobnig laughed, after overcoming strong competitors on her way to gold.
