Another rowing nation officially enters coastal rowing with national championships. The Swiss Rowing Association (Swissrowing), in cooperation with Leman sur Mer, is hosting the first Swiss Coastal Rowing Championships on Lake Geneva. Switzerland, not necessarily known for its long coastline, will start only for the long distance. But still a good start. The first Swiss Championships on Lake Geneva.
Date: Saturday, November 5, 2022, in Lausanne.
The organizers have experience. Already in 2021, they organized a regatta (Leman sur Mer) in Lausanne, which was very well received. We remember: The first Swiss Coastal Rowing Regatta took place there on October 16, 2021. Almost 180 rowers* (from Switzerland and France) met on Lake Geneva. In mild conditions, 6km were rowed. We do not expect any surprises. The organizers have professional experience in coastal rowing and know how to organize an event.

Participants from Europe
Based on last year’s experience, we expect this regatta to also attract participants from neighbouring countries. Probably French and German athletes will also participate. The Swiss Championships will be held in C1x and MixC2x (Juniors U19 and Seniors). Furthermore, races in the open class will take place. The “open races” are open for rowers without a racing license or from abroad.
We are already excited and look forward to a great event!
