It finally happens: The first 1st Coastal Rowing Regatta in Switzerland will take place in Lausanne! The first Swiss Coastal Regatta is being held with the motto Léman sur Mer.
Coastal rowing on Lake Geneva
You might have wondered already, Coastal Rowing in Switzerland? In Central Europe? A country without any famous coastlines, dunes or cliffs? Nevertheless, there are many friends of coastal rowing here and this event has been planned for many months! The regatta in Lausanne is listed in the official Swissrowing program (www.swissrowing.ch) and therefore has an official status.
The host is one of the most successful rowing clubs in Switzerland: Laussane Sports Aviron (LSA). Many top rowers and Olympians row here on Lake Geneva.
Coastal Boats for the dreaded west wind.
A coastal rowing regatta in Switzerland makes sense. Anyone who knows Lake Geneva knows what it means when the wind comes from the West. The lake can then only be “rowed” with coastal boats. The organizers decided not to hold a Beach Sprint but only long distance. The 6 km long route starts in the bay of Vidy and includes several turns. All clubs as well as individuals can register. The LSA welcomes registrations from home and abroad.
To register, contact the Swiss Rowing Association or Coastal-Boats.de. We are happy to organize everything for you.
The registration deadline is September 17, 2021. Boat reservations at: Volker@rowing-in-europe.com
